Man sues city after chase, crash

ELYRIA -- A Lorain man is suing the city because he claims he was chased by a police officer in an unmarked car and ended up in a violent crash at the intersection of West 22nd Street and Reid Avenue.
Brian A. See, 2150 Elyria Ave., Apt. 3, is suing Lorain in Lorain County Common Pleas Court and asking for a judgment of more than $25,000 for the August 2005 accident, according to the lawsuit.

The lawsuit contends a police officer was chasing See in an unmarked car at a high speed without lights and sirens.
See had no way to discern who was chasing him, the suit says, so he fled the car and crashed at West 22nd Street and Reid Avenue. The suit says See sustained severe injuries in the crash.
Lorain Law Director Mark Provenza said yesterday he had not seen the suit yet and could not comment. The suit does not identify the police officer.
